Documented history
Los Borrachos del Tablón, River Plate's barra brava: history
Los Borrachos del Tablón, also written L.B.D.T., is the name of River Plate's barra brava. It does not designate the whole fan base at the Monumental, which is made up of members and supporters with no link to the group. Press sources allow its stages to be followed from the early 2000s: the indictment of its leaders in 2007, the investigation into ticket resale, the mass admission ban of 2019, the internal dispute with another faction and its situation in 2025 and 2026.
2002–2007: leadership, indictments and convictions
According to Perfil 442 (2018), a leader of the millonario fan base ran the group between 2002 and 2007. The same piece reports that he is serving a life sentence for a murder committed in August 2007 and has another 12-year sentence for a second crime. Página/12 had reported in August 2007 that a judge indicted, without pre-trial detention, the leaders of «Los Borrachos del Tablón» for inciting crimes at a sporting event; an indictment and a conviction are different phases of a criminal case.

Letra P reported in 2013 an Olé investigation into ticket resale in which former officials, police officers and four barras appeared. In January 2019, according to Ámbito, the Ministry of Security applied an indefinite admission ban to 284 River barras, including the then leader, over the resale of tickets for the Copa Libertadores final against Boca.

Letra P (2013), citing Olé, wrote that four barras «boast of being shielded by the highest levels of the national government»; it was a boast attributed to those barras and not a proven fact. Perfil 442 (2019) reported that the Buenos Aires province prosecutor admitted the investigation into the internal dispute could turn «to the political sphere». Infobae (January 2025) argues that that year's leadership relies on contacts with unions and politicians.

According to Perfil 442 (September 2019), ten members of the barra were arrested with thirteen firearms and 123 cartridges before a River–Vélez match, amid an internal dispute with «La barra del Oeste». Infobae (2025) describes a western group with its own leader and a precarious peace with the leadership.

La Página Millonaria reported on 12 October 2025 that three historic banners —«Somos Argentina», «L.B.D.T.» and «C.A.R.P. - Argentina»— were seen again in the Sívori popular stand, after seven years without a flag bearing the barra's name; the last had been on 27 October 2018. Infobae (May 2025) says they had already managed to bring drums and straps into the Monumental, although the leadership could not enter, and that the barra travelled abroad again, to Guayaquil, for the 2025 Copa Libertadores.

Infobae (January 2025) wrote that «2025 is the year Los Borrachos del Tablón marked as the one of the return to the Monumental» and described a leadership shared between a group of brothers and another leader. According to América Diario (February 2025), Resolution 211/2025 sanctioned eight River fans expelled in Mendoza against Godoy Cruz: two of them with a lifetime ban and five with 36 months. La Página Millonaria adds that the front line has an admission ban while the second and third lines attend as home supporters. Infobae (June 2026) indicates that the leadership had no chance of travelling to the World Cup and that some 300 members appear on the admission ban list.

Letra P (23 December 2013), reporting an Olé investigation, ran the headline «Denuncian vínculos entre Los Borrachos del Tablón y el kirchnerismo» (links between Los Borrachos del Tablón and Kirchnerism are alleged) and quoted a barra saying «Mientras esté Cristina Kirchner, me lo aseguraron hoy, no me pasa nada». These are press allegations and remarks by one member, not proven, and neither a statement by the group nor the political position of River's fan base. Infobae (January 2025) speaks of contacts with unions and politicians without attributing an ideology. The sources consulted do not record an ideological self-definition.
