Biris Norte is the ultra group of Sevilla FC and leads the singing from the lower tier of Gol Norte at the Sánchez-Pizjuán. It was born in 1975 as Peña Biri-Biri, in tribute to the Gambian forward Biri Biri. In 1995 it suffered an ideological split: the right-wing sector formed Stukas Sur and Biris Norte was left defined as a left-wing group. Documented history

Biris Norte: half a century in Gol Norte

Biris Norte is the ultra group of Sevilla FC and one of the oldest in Spain: its seed dates from 1974 and its official foundation from 1975. It was born as Peña Biri-Biri, in tribute to Sevilla's Gambian forward, and leads the singing from Gol Norte at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. On 11 January 2025, against Valencia, the stadium hosted a tifo for its fiftieth anniversary.

1974–1975: from Peña Biri-Biri to Brigadas Biris Norte

According to the group's history published by ElDesmarque in February 2017, the seed of Biris Norte dates from 1974 and its official foundation from 1975. It was born as Peña Biri-Biri, in honour of Sevilla's Gambian forward, and later adopted the name Brigadas Biris Norte. Until 2008 it had a space in Gol Norte to store its stand-animation material.

1995: the ideological split and Stukas Sur

In 1995 the group split for ideological reasons. According to ElDesmarque, one part was far-right and another defined itself as left-wing and in favour of Andalusian independence. The right-wing sector moved to Gol Sur under the name Stukas Sur; Biris Norte stayed in Gol Norte.

Biri Biri and the memory of Sevilla's supporters' clubs

The tribute that gives the peña its name is part of the fans' recognition of the Gambian player. On 24 April 2017, Sevilla FC reported on the efforts of the Federación de Peñas San Fernando to bring Biri Biri to Seville and organise events in his honour. The announcement comes from the Federación de Peñas, not from Biris Norte, which has carried the player's name since its foundation.

Tifos and chants in Gol Norte

In 2017 ElDesmarque highlighted the group's tifos, which featured in Sevilla's finals of that era. LaLiga's complaint filings describe its place in the stadium: in April 2015 they placed Biris Norte in the lower tier of Gol Norte, the «Banco de Pista Norte», and in January 2025 they recorded chants from sectors N11, N12, N20, N21B and N22B, among them «son los Biris de Gol Norte, el corazón de Nervión» (“we are the Biris of Gol Norte, the heart of Nervión”).

Relationship with Sevilla's boards

The relationship with the board has been conflictive. ElDesmarque recalls that José María del Nido tightened measures against the group after a fight at a friendly in Rota and that, in February 2017, Sevilla issued a harsh statement against Biris Norte. In June 2025, according to AS, the group called, together with the Federación de Peñas and Accionistas Unidos, a march from Las Setas to the City Hall demanding the resignation of the president, José María del Nido Carrasco.

2025: the fiftieth anniversary and the closure proposal

On 11 January 2025, against Valencia, Gol Norte unfurled a tifo for the group's fiftieth anniversary, and the derby on 30 November began with another large tribute tifo. On 11 December, the State Commission against Violence in Sport proposed closing the stadium for a month and fining Sevilla 120,000 euros. According to the Interior Ministry, the drawing differed from the one authorised by the club and the ultras themselves claimed authorship. It was a proposed penalty, not a final ruling.
