Documented history

Desperdicis: Sant Andreu's anti-fascist stand since 2007

Desperdicis was founded in 2007 on the initiative of young people from the Sant Andreu neighbourhood, with anti-fascism and class consciousness as hallmarks, and has occupied the Gol Nord of the Narcís Sala ever since, according to Detrás de la Portería. Esport3 also dates its origin to 2007. In a 2010 interview, the group explained that its name came from an away trip to Badalona on which, they said, they were treated «like Desperdicis» (scraps).

Before 2007: Front Andreuenc and Andreuencs in the Gol Nord

Detrás de la Portería places Front Andreuenc in 1986 as the first group in the Gol Nord of the Narcís Sala. In 1998 Andreuencs was born in the same stand and disappeared in 2006 for lack of generational renewal. In the 2010 interview, Desperdicis contrasted its anti-fascist position with Andreuencs's rejection of politics.

2009–2010: the centenary, the name and friendships

In April 2009, the group described on its blog a stand cover with a Sant Jordi cross and the reference to Sant Andreu and 1909, prepared for the club's centenary; that date commemorates the institution, not the group. In the July 2010 interview, it explained that its tifos and material were self-financed and cited its friendship with Rudes Lleida and with Alcorcón fans, as with other anti-fascist groups.

2016–2019: the Sant Andreu assault and the ruling

In February 2016, VilaWeb reported that the club's management valued Desperdicis's presence «very positively» for the atmosphere it gave the stadium. In June of that year, five young men assaulted volunteers at a tent of the platform Barcelona con la Selección in Sant Andreu. In October 2019, the Barcelona Provincial Court convicted them and found it proven that they belonged to Desperdicis, according to El País, but ruled out that the group constituted a criminal organisation. The conviction falls on those five people, not on Sant Andreu's supporters.

The Sindicat del Tifo Organizat

Relevo described in May 2024 an internal committee, the Sindicat del Tifo Organizat, which devises, designs and makes the group's tifos, financed in large part by selling merchandise and the group's own fanzine «A sang i fetge». The tifo for the January 2024 derby against Europa covered the whole Gol Nord and recalled anti-fascist militiawomen of 1936, such as Marina Ginestà. According to the same outlet, its tifos usually deal with anti-fascism, working-class and union tradition, Catalanism and roots in the neighbourhood. Already at the April 2023 derby, Detrás de la Portería described a tifo with pulleys and the silhouettes of the Fabra i Coats factory and the church of Sant Andreu.

The derby with Europa

The Barcelona popular-football derby pits Desperdicis against Eskapulats, of CE Europa. Esport3 stressed in April 2023 that the two groups have more in common than differences, apart from the sporting rivalry, and reported Desperdicis's motto: «Ultres antifeixistes». In the derby of 30 March 2025, the two groups stood face to face at the Narcís Sala, according to Ara.

Ideology and identity · Desperdicis

Desperdicis defines itself as an anti-fascist stand: it said so in a July 2010 interview in La Banda Izquierda, and the 2019 Barcelona Provincial Court ruling, cited by El País, records it, mentioning among its members ideologies ranging from revolutionary pro-independence to socialism. VilaWeb (2016) described it as anti-fascist and opposed to modern football, and Esport3 (2023) attributed to it a left-wing and pro-independence ideology. These are descriptions of the group at those dates, not of all Sant Andreu supporters.
