Documented history

Frente Bokerón: forty years of animation at La Rosaleda

Frente Bokerón is Málaga's ultra group and one of the oldest animation peñas at La Rosaleda: Málaga CF places its origin in 1986. The club's official news item on its 23rd anniversary, in March 2009, describes a celebration attended by players and club representatives, and shows that its life as a peña included gatherings outside the stadium as well as animation at matches.

1986–1992: from C.D. Málaga to the new club

According to the history published in 2013 on the blog Frente Bokerón 1986, the group was born as the animation group of C.D. Málaga. It first occupied the upper end stand of La Rosaleda, then the preferente section and finally the lower end stand, where it was recognised by the flares, smoke and confetti behind the goal. After C.D. Málaga disappeared in 1992 it followed the new club around the province's Tercera División grounds.

2002/03: European trips and sections

With Málaga in the 2002/03 UEFA Cup, the group travelled to Europe for the first time, to grounds such as those of AEK Athens, Leeds United and Boavista. The same account explains that, after a period of crisis, it was reorganised by sections such as Brigadas Sur, Portada Alta, Nueva Málaga and Quintalegre.

2016/17: a joint animation stand in Gol Bajo

Málaga announced for the 2016/17 season a stand bringing together Frente Bokerón, Malaka Hinchas, Frente Comepipas and other groups. The project was located in Gol Bajo at La Rosaleda and provided for 1,800 seats. That figure referred to the stand as a whole, not to the number of Frente Bokerón members. The club presented the change as a shared space in which several peñas coordinate the animation; other season-ticket holders changed location to make it possible.

Fondo Sur 1904: the shared stand

In October 2017, the club explained that the peñas had agreed to replace the provisional name Grada de Animación with Fondo Sur 1904. The text names Malaka Hinchas, Frente Bokerón and other groups as participants in that area. Fondo Sur 1904 is the name of the collective animation space; Frente Bokerón is one of the peñas that make it up, so the actions of the shared stand do not correspond to this group alone.

2024: Riazor and growth after relegation

On 5 and 6 October 2024, before a Deportivo–Málaga match declared high-risk, Frente Bokerón ultras caused damage in a bar near Riazor, according to El Español. The newspaper placed the episode in the context of the long enmity between Frente Bokerón and Riazor Blues, initially ideological, and explained that the group had grown after Málaga's relegation to the third tier. In 2023, El Independiente listed it among the fifteen groups that the Anti-Violence Commission considered dangerous.
